Some foods have been shown to give cholesterol levels an extra nudge in the right direction: Oatmeal and oat bran contain soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the “bad” cholesterol. Beyond oatmeal, dried peas, beans and lentils have nutritional advantages. They are good sources of protein and minerals and are cholesterol free and virtually fat-free substitutes for meat. Studies have shown that substances in almond skins help prevent (LDL) cholesterol from being oxidized, a process that can otherwise damage the lining of blood vessels and increase cardiovascular risk. Walnuts also help keep blood vessels healthy and elastic. Blueberries contain a powerful antioxidant called pterostilbene that may help lower (LDL) cholesterol, scientists at the Agricultural Research Service reported in 2004. According to one study from Australia demonstrated eating 1/2 to 1 1/2 avocados a day for three weeks could lower your cholesterol by more than 80% without lowering your (HDL) cholesterol.

There are two kinds of fruit juices that are at high risk of stone formation which it’s grapefruit juice and cranberry juice. You can substitute those juices with fresh lemon juice, will increase citrate excretion in the urine. Don’t be afraid to make a trip to the restroom every 3-4hours, if you need to drink more water. For those who have kidney stones, you may take 1 bottle of beer per day to flush out stones and decreases stone formation.

Did you know that toothbrush has a lot of germs and bacteria and could cause you sick or gum disease. Even though, you rinse it with water after brushed your teeth. Throw your toothbrush in the microwave and heat it up for 15 seconds (don’t heat it too long, will damage your toothbrush) every week to get rid of bacteria. If you use an electric toothbrush, just take the head out and put it in the microwave. Most dentists advise replacing the toothbrush every 6 months and after you had a cold or other illness.

The answer is YES! According to the ophthalmologist, not wearing sunglasses can increase chances of developing your kids eyes problems and adult eyes as well. Even though, the sun doesn’t bother your eyes but do still need one when you go out on a sunny day, especially in the summer. Ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause permanent retinal damage.

Are the more expensive designer sunglasses any better? Well, the price doesn’t matter as long as it’s 100% UVB protection. You can also get a good pair of sunglasses for under $20 at any sporting goods store. Keep in mind, the sport eyewear is the first choice because the lenses and frames are made of special materials that are unlikely to shatter if struck.
